Children's Ministries at Brown's Chapel
At Brown’s Chapel, we want children to know that they are an important part of our church—not just someday, but right now.
Our children’s ministries create opportunities for kids to learn about God, ask questions, build relationships, serve others and discover what it means to live out their faith. We also want to support families as they help children grow in faith beyond the walls of the church.
From Sunday afternoon programs and hands-on service through Mission Possible Kids to Team Family events and resources that help children participate in worship, we’re creating spaces where children can learn, belong, serve and grow.

Faith-Development Resources
What shapes a child's faith the most? It might surprise you to learn that, in a typical month, children spend only about 1% of their time at church. By comparison, they spend nearly 18% of their time at school and almost 20% looking at TV and phone screens.
Those numbers aren't meant to diminish the importance of church. Instead, they remind us of something incredibly important: the biggest opportunities to nurture a child's faith happen in the ordinary moments of life.
That's why Youth Director Michelle Rash has created a weekly video series and monthly conversation cards designed to help parents feel more confident having simple, meaningful faith conversations with their children.
Sunday Afternoons
Sundays | 2:30–4 p.m.
Sunday afternoons at Brown’s Chapel give children a chance to explore their faith through activities designed to be hands-on, engaging and fun.
Our current focus is Learning to Use My Bible, where children are discovering how the Bible is organized, how to find books, chapters and verses, and how to become more comfortable using the Bible on their own.
Beginning in 2027, Sunday afternoons will offer a variety of short-term programs that connect faith with children’s interests and creativity. Plans include opportunities incorporating LEGOs, science, interpretive dance, cooking and more. Children can participate in the programs that interest them, giving them different ways to explore faith, ask questions and discover how God connects with their everyday lives.
Mission Possible Kids
Third Fridays | 5:30–8 p.m.
At Mission Possible Kids, children discover that they don’t have to wait until they grow up to make a difference.
Children ages 4 and up become “agents of change,” taking on hands-on service missions that meet real needs in our community. Each gathering includes dinner, fun and a new mission that helps children put their faith into action.
Through serving others, kids learn that their time, ideas and gifts matter—and that God can use them to share love and make a difference right now.
Team Family
Faith grows through the everyday moments families share together, and Team Family creates opportunities for children and the adults who care for them to experience faith together.
Held quarterly, Team Family gatherings combine Bible stories, conversation, games and hands-on activities designed for families to participate in side by side. Rather than separating children and adults, everyone learns and participates together.
Each gathering centers on a different theme and gives families simple ideas they can carry home, helping faith conversations continue long after the event ends.
Worship Bag Station
Children are an important part of worship at Brown’s Chapel, and our Worship Bag Station helps them participate in ways that work for them.
Instead of handing every child the same prepacked worship bag, children can choose from a variety of quiet activities and sensory tools before entering worship. That might mean something to draw or write with, an activity that keeps their hands busy, or a tool that helps them listen and focus.
Children can also pick up a sermon listening sheet that encourages them to notice words, ideas and moments during the service.
The station recognizes that children engage and pay attention in different ways while reinforcing a simple message: Worship is for them, too.
